Premier Daniel Andrews

Born in Williamstown on 6th July 1972, his parents relocated to Wangaratta in 1983. Daniel Andrews was educated at the Marist Brothers’ Glen Catholic College in Wangaratta. Later he graduated in Bachelor of Arts in Politics from Mannix residential College which is affiliated to Monash University. After graduation he became an electorate officer for federal Labor MP Alan Griffin. He worked at the party’s head office from 1999 to 2002, initially as an organiser, and then as assistant state secretary.

He was elected to Victorian legislative assembly from the Melbourne seat of Mulgrave in 2002 and was appointed Parliament Secretary for Health in Steve Bracks Labor Government. After the 2006 elections, he became the cabinet minister for Gaming and Consumer affairs. In 2007, he became Minister for health in Brumby Government.  The Labor party lost the 2010 State elections and Andrews became the Victorian Labor Party leader and the leader of opposition in Victoria.

After 2014 elections, Labor won the Government and Daniel Andrews became the Premier of Victoria. In 2018 elections, people of Victoria backed him for a second term and he returned to power with a resounding win.
