This is the oldest Children’s farm in Australia and was established on 1979. The Farm’ is one of Melbourne’s most treasured places. Only a few km’s from Melbourne CBD in a big bend of the Yarra with lots of great animals for young kids to come and play with. The Farm is seven hectares of paddocks, gardens, orchards, rustic buildings and shady trees.

The farm provides City children with an opportunity to experience farm life. Farming commenced in this land in 1836 and it has been continually farmed for 175 years. The farm has an extensive list of animals like peacocks, guinea pigs, chickens, pigs, ducks and horses.

Visitors can feed animals and try their hand in milking cows. The farm produce is available for sale at the farm store.

Regular Events in the farm

Family Day

The Farm has a Family Day on first Sunday of every month except December and January.

Daily Events at the farm

There’s Pony Rides (10.30-2.00, not on school holiday or during Term 3), Tractor rides (10.30-2.30), Guinea Pig cuddles (11.45 -12.15, 1.30-2.15 and 3.15-3.45) and an affordable BBQ lunch that starts at 11.30 am until sold out. Help milk the cow at 10 am and 4 pm

Farmer’s Market

There is a farmer’s market, Second Saturday of every month from 8am-1pm . There is an entry fee of $2 for adults. Children enter free. After 1pm normal farm entry fees apply.

Kids Parties

Collingwood Children’s farm is a popular venue for conducting Children’s birth day parties. Details can be found in the farm’s website.

How to reach Collingwood Children’s Farm

By Train

Catch South Morang/Hurstbridge line train and get down at Victoria Park station. It is a ten minutes’ walk from the station

By Bus

Bus Numbers 200, and 207 leave city in Lonsdale Street and run along Johnson Street. Get off at Clarke Street and turn left to Helliers Street.

200 – City (Melbourne Central) – Bulleen

207 – City Doncaster – SC via Kew Junction

By Tram

Catch tram 109, 12 or 48 to Victoria Street / Nicholson Street (Abbotsford)

109 – Box Hill – Port Melbourne

12 – Victoria Gardens – St Kilda

48 – North Balwyn – Victoria Harbour Docklands

It is a 20 minutes’ walk from the tram stop.
