Birrarung Marr Park was opened in 2002 along the Yarra in the Melbourne CBD beside the Federation Square. Birrarung means ‘river of mists’ and Marr means side in indigenous language. In the Birrarung park, a railway building remaining from the Jolimont rail yards was converted to a children’s art centre and cultural Centre. It was named Art Play. Art Play runs a range of workshops for children. There is a children’s playground next to the building. This colourful outdoor space is purpose built for kids aged up to 13.
Art Play is a creative base offering imaginative workshops in all aspects of art suitable for children.
